Position Summary
Pastor of Adult Ministries oversees most adult ministries that are both staff-led and lay-led, preaches 8-10 times per year, as well as engages in pastoral responsibilities as needed to help adults grow spiritually by following CPC’s Rule of Life under the leadership of the elders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Primary Duties: Adult Ministry, Community Groups, Pastoral Care, Teaching Team
● Lead and develop the Adult Ministries, Care Team, and Restoration Ministries staff teams
● Meet one on one with our staff team members who lead an adult ministry at least twice a month
for prayer, encouragement, coaching, and development (Care, Restoration, Women’s)
● Meet one on one with our Lay Ministry Leaders who lead an adult ministry regularly (i.e. FHL,
Work Life, Sequoia) for prayer, encouragement, resourcing, coaching, and development.
● Coordinate and help execute all aspects of CPC’s Community Group Ministry
● Coordinate and help execute with key lay leaders all aspects of our Men’s Fraternity ministry
● Coordinate and encourage Sunday AM Prayer Teams
● Work with worship and teaching teams as needed to assist with Sunday Morning Worship
● Part of the teaching team - preaching approximately 8-10 times per year.
● Coordinate miscellaneous pastoral duties such as weddings, memorials, visitations, pastoral
counseling, prayer ministries
● Participate in the annual planning cycle including calendars, budgets, MAPs, and PDPs.
● Attend and participate in weekly All Staff Meetings
● Attend annual staff events such as Staff Retreat, Staff and Elder Celebration, etc.
● Other related duties as assigned for this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
● Graduate level theological training
● Experience successfully leading adult ministries and leadership teams
● Experience pastoring all types of adults in one on one, small groups, or class sized settings
● Experience in local church operations and polity
Knowledge and Skills:
● Pastor’s heart for all kinds of people and a love for His local church.
● Accurately handling, applying, and teaching the Word of God
● Teachable team player who can adapt and embrace CPC’s mission, doctrinal beliefs, core
values, staff values, and Rule of Life
● The ability to execute our strategy to help people become transformed people transforming the Peninsula
● A particular affinity toward Community/Small Groups and men
● Proven ability to raise up and equip new leadership
● Lead a team to execute a retreat or special event
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to perform tasks that may involve light physical activity, such as rolling tables, setting up
chairs, and rearranging furniture as needed.
● Must be capable of meeting with individuals in various settings, including outside the office, such as coffee shops, outdoor walks, and home visits, as part of the job responsibilities.
● Comfortable with activities that may involve light walking or standing for extended periods.
